Reports from local media indicate that a funeral procession will take place on Tuesday in Tabriz, a city located in northwestern Iran, to honor the late President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash. The state news agency, IRNA, has stated that the burial of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other prominent officials will occur in Qom, a city situated in central Iran.
Following an extensive search operation that was impeded by adverse weather conditions, President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and additional high-ranking officials were officially declared deceased on Monday morning. Numerous emergency rescue teams were deployed to the mountainous region of East Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran, where the accident transpired on Sunday afternoon.
Per the Iranian Constitution, the responsibilities of the presidency will be assumed by First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, and elections are scheduled to take place within a 50-day timeframe.
