The US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, showed up in Oman yesterday to examine ways of supporting the Yemeni gatherings to arrive at a political arrangement, Anadolu Agency detailed.

Lenderking met with the Undersecretary of the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Diplomatic Affairs, Sheik Khalifa Bin Ali Bin Isa Al-Harthi, in Muscat. No further subtleties were given with respect to the gathering.

The Sultanate of Oman plays had a vital impact in overcoming any barrier in sees between the Yemeni government and the Houthis, exploiting its great connection with the two clashing gatherings.

On 2 August, the United Nations declared that the Yemeni government and the Houthis had consented to broaden a truce for two extra months.

For over seven years, Yemen has been seeing a constant conflict between powers faithful to the globally perceived government upheld by an Arab alliance driven by adjoining Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-supported Houthis, who have controlled a few governorates, including Sanaa, since September 2014.
